BTCat Integration with Koha

BTCat Integration with Koha

Baker & Taylor Cataloging is a state-of-the-art library cataloging utility and database. BTCat was created to be an efficient production environment for the cataloging team. BTCat allows libraries to search just one target or multiple databases. These record databases include BTCat Community, Z39.50 searching, and the library's own records. BTCat includes easy navigation through these records, keyboard shortcuts, and Macros. Changes can easily be made through the interface before sending the record to Koha.

Once a record has been found in BTCat and is ready to be sent, it can be directly sent to the library's Koha system.

Workflow

For Koha users, the BTCat Integration will allow a seamless integration for retrieving records from BTCat and pushing them into Koha through an API. The MARC field 935 is used for matching and once the record is sent to Koha through the API, a success screen will display with the record number.

Once a record has been sent from BTCat, this will be updated in Koha. In the video demonstration, Lori merged records and updated her current Koha record with a new, more robust record. Through the Modification Log, Lori could see the record was updated via the API, and the update details are included in the log.

For our partner libraries, already using BTCat and would like to set up this integration? Please submit a ticket and we can work with you!
