Integrating Quipu with Aspen & Koha
Aspen supports Quipu eCARD (self-registration) and eRENEW (patron account renewal).
First, decide whether your library would like to have Quipu's form display in Aspen or embed it on your website.
Aspen setup
If you want to keep the form on your website, there is no Aspen setup needed. If you want to integrate with Aspen, follow the instructions in the Help Center for setting up
Qupiu eCARD and/or
Quipu eRENEW.
Koha setup
- Create a patron account called api_quipu with the top-level borrowers permission.

- Generate API credentials from the patron's record by going to More > Manage API keys > Generate a new client id/secret pair.
Note: If 'Manage API keys' isn't showing, make sure that the system preference RESTOAuth2ClientCredentials is set to Enable. - Send the API keys generated above to Quipu (not ByWater Solutions).
- If your library is migrating to Koha and Aspen and you already have Quipu set up with your current ILS, you may need to send Quipu updated mapping information. For example, you may need to send Quipu the list of new branch codes since those may have changed from your old system.
- Quipu will continue to test and adjust as needed. Don't hesitate to reach out to your ByWater Solutions migration team if there are any questions or concerns!
