Frequently Asked Questions
When do Koha upgrades take place?
ByWater's Koha partners receive a new major release of Koha every April and October. PS or "minor" upgrades containing bugfixes are released monthly except in April and October (when they are replaced by major upgrades) and in March and September (when ByWater prepares for the next major upgrade).
Upgrades are always applied after 9pm in the timezone that is local to the partner library.
What's the difference between major and PS upgrades?
Major upgrades contain new features and enhancements requested by members of the global Koha community. PS upgrades primarily focus on bug fixes.
Is there anything my library needs to do following an upgrade?
After a major upgrade, we recommend that library staff clear the cache in their browsers as soon as possible on the morning after the upgrade takes place. Libraries may also wish to check if any plugins need to be updated; this is particularly important for any partners that make use of EDI. See
How to Update Plugins in Koha for more information.
