Libki Installation - Client
ClawPDF:
Libki uses a program called ClawPDF to make the various printer configurations from server available to patrons. This should be installed first on client PCs using the installer located here:
Instructions for installation:
- It is recommended to have at least 2 separate Windows accounts on your PC: an administrator, and at least one standard user.
- Run the installer executable as administrator
- Screen 1: Server Information
- Your scheme is https
- Your server address will be provided by ByWater staff.
- Your server port is 443
- Screen 2: Client Information
- The client location can also be used to aid identification of machines, however it can be blank if you only have one location using the server.
- Run only for this user - if you only have one standard Windows account on this PC, you can specify it here
- Run for all users but this one - if you have multiple standard accounts, you can specify the administrative account here
- The client name should be unique to the machine. This way you can identify it via the administration panel. You can enter a fixed name, or If you set the value of this field to OS_USERNAME, the logged in Windows account username will be used as the client’s name.
- Screen 3: Startup Mode
- Select "Automatically start Libki client after normal user shell" unless you have a specific reason not to
- Screen 4: Logout Action
- Choose the method that best fits how you system works to clear user sessions (DeepFreeze, Clean Slate, etc)
- Screen 5: Client Disable
- You are given an option to set a password to bypass Libki. This password should be something unique and not obvious. Keep in mind this is not a substitute for other forms of protection for the machine. This password is used to unlock the Libki client in the event that it cannot access the server to authenticate actual users.
- Screen 6: Add Printers
If you have ClawPDF installed on this computer you can import the printer configurations directly from server. In Libki server, go to the Admin section and open up Settings->Print Management. In the Printer Configuration section, look for the section labelled 'printers'. The headers for each printer configuration are the IDs you'll enter in the client installer. In the example below, the IDs are 'color' and 'color-duplex-long'.
printers:
color:
chroming: color
physical_printer_name: somePrinter
public_printer_name: Color
plexing: simplex
type: PrintManager
