Patron Passport Plugin for Koha

This plugin is available on the ByWater Solutions GitHub site, and currently needs to be configured by a ByWater team member. The plugin configuration does not live in the staff interface, but on the backend where it is not accessible to partners.

Once this configuration has been done by ByWater, your library can start reciprocal borrowing!

Reciprocal Borrowing

If a patron was registered at Library A, and visited Library B, the patron would not be in Library B's database. However, with Patron Passport, when Library B checks out to the Library A patron, Koha (actually, the plugin) will create a new patron in the Library B database. The patron's contact information, such as the address, will be copied over to the new patron account. However, the patron's checkout history and/or reading history will not be copied over. The patron will be created using a decided-upon Patron Category, which will be built into the configuration of the plugin. The newly created patron will have a patron attribute in their account that will indicate which library their information was pulled from.

Libraries will need to create a circulation rule that will apply to any new patron category. 

Notes
If a patron moves and the address is updated at their Home Library, this address change will not be reflected at any other library where this patron has also checked out books using reciprocal borrowing.
