There are a few conceptual differences between Koha and Symphony.
  1. Koha uses item statuses instead of cards or dummy patrons in the item lifecycle. Instead of checking something out to a mending card, for example, in Koha an item can be given a damaged status of mending. 
  2. Staff access is governed by permissions assigned to individual staff accounts.
